Take it from Betty Spain, “Make every minute count!”  Maybe this mantra comes from being one of 12 siblings! Yes 12, Betty has 6 sisters and 5 brothers!, so making every minute count was probably very important.  Needless to say, Betty Spain has certainly made the most of her time by turning her boutique, Bella Rose, into one of the best places to shop in Kentucky, and especially in Lexington. 

If you have met Betty, or shopped in her boutique, then you know she is an expert at what she does, and she loves it!  Not only does she always look like a million bucks!, but she really knows how to help women, younger and older, dress to fit their style and body type.  It really is a gift.  Betty Spain exudes confidence, glamour, style and knowledge.  She is definitely approachable, someone to admire and certainly look to for advice.  Her ageless demeanor is also seriously something to envy.

Get out of your comfort zone and try new things, you’d be surprised at what you will like

How do you define style?
Timeless, if you can still wear something 5 years later then you know it was a great investment.

What is at the top of your style / wardrobe wish list? 
Any little black dress, there are so many great shapes and styles right now! 

Also patent leather accessories are great right now, shoes, belts etc.

What do you love most about owning one of the most popular boutiques in Lexington?

The ability to reach so many women in the community.  We have ladies that shop here ranging from the ages of 15-90, so we have the opportunity to cheer up women of three generations.  It is exciting to come to work and have something new each day.

How did you get into the boutique business?
I am one of 12 children, so growing up, fun, new trends were not always available to me.   I wanted to make that accessible to people and that‘s what got me motivated.  I was at a time in my life when I was going through a career move and it seemed like the right time to make a change.  27 years later, I’m still loving it! 

Do you have any advice for women out there opening their own businesses?

Do what you love, if you have a passion for the business then follow your heart.  Most importantly, stay true to yourself
