New Store Concepts; Pop-ups & Closets
With the economy like it is everyone is getting creative…
Gucci, for example, launched this week its new pop-up store on Crosby Street in Manhattan. It is suppose to stay open for two-weeks, but according to WWD the company is hoping to close the space even before the two-weeks are up! ” The boutique, its white-washed walls covered in the signature Gucci evergreen and red stripes, will pack up as soon as its wares — which include the Gucci Ronson sneaker, a collaboration with celebrity DJ Mark Ronson — are sold out, ” says WWD.

Banana Republic is another one trying out a new approach to buyer beckoning. BR recently opened its concept stores in Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas, Scottsdale Fashion Square - Scottsdale, AZ and Westfield Mall San Francisco. Executives for BR state the new store experience promises to be designed like a walk-in closet with a residential feel. A circular plaza anchors the floor and serves as a hub filled with accessories from handbags and jewelry to shoes. Instead of traditional window displays, shoppers can see right into the store…HMS says we shall have to see for ourselves….
