What do you love most about owning your own business and what inspired you to focus on skin care?
I have extremely oily skin and had problems finding a balance when I was younger. I initially wanted to go into dermatology and was inspired by my long time dermatologist, and the only person that was able to get my skin under control, (after seeing all of the prominent Lexington dermatologists at the time) Dr. Martha Post. I spoke often with Dr. Post about a career change – after graduating from UK and being miserable in my sales career – and ways to get involved in skin care. I also spoke often with her once in esthetics school. I am actually glad that you asked this question because I was saddened by her death and the fact that I never had a chance to thank her for encouraging me to finally do something that I love.
I really wanted clients to feel at home in my treatment rooms while still giving them real immediate, non surgical scientific results. There are many great skin care facilities in Lexington and I didn’t want to be just another spa. Lexington was lacking the type of environment that I have created for clients at Ideal skin. I wanted people to be comfortable and it’s the little things that make that difference. From the the rich brown and copper hues to to the high quality sateen sheets, down blankets and quilts and the dimly lit chandeliers, the surrounding reminds guests of home or a luxury get away. I have clients select their music from my Pandora library as well as their aromatherapy scents to enhance there comfort during treatment. Clients emerge from my room refreshed and rejuvenated as if they had a vacation and anap (which some often do!).
Can’t leave home without
Maybe it’s because I do eyebrows but I feel they are so important to the appearance of ones face. When improperly shaped or out of place thet can throw off the whole look. Mine are a bit sparse so I always apply Model in A Bottle eyebrow sealer, it will hold natural brow or any brow make up. It makes my brows look thicker and fuller and it won’t dust, shine or flake.
Favorite PCA Skin product
ExLinea peptide smoothing serum…like liquid botox! Great for softening fine lines and even smoothing under eye creeping. The technically advanced treatment formulation synergistically hydrates, smoothes and firms aging skin. It contains ingredients that relax the facial tension that leads to wrinkling; increase intracellular moisture; fight free radical damage and provide the skin with an immediate tightening and lifting effect.
Favorite facial peel
PCA peel with Hydroquinone and Resorcinol which is a modified and enhanced Jessner’s peel. This formula softens lines, helps clear acne and smooths skins tone and texture. AHA combined with Kojic acid and hydroquinone (FDA approved lightening agent) address hyperpigmrntation i.e. dark spots from sun damage or hormonal changes leaving skin lightened and brightened. Resorcinol strengthens the skins. After each peel the skin is infused with nourishing ingredients as opposed to simply stripping away the surface.
Lusting after for fall…
Loving the fur booties and shoes, but more wearable the novelty sweatshirts with the lace are feminine and comfy.

So many!! I see fashion as multifaceted!…..Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Ritchie, SJP, Victoria Beckham, Chloe Sevigny, Rachel Zoe and of course Audrey Hepburn.
Listening to now…
Again very versatile. I love almost all music from Kenny Chesney to Jay Z. to James Blunt to Lady Gaga. I’m happy that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are recording again!
